Alain Cahen appointed Managing Director of Unilabs Switzerland
Alain Cahen becomes head of Unilabs, the Swiss leader of medical diagnostics on 1 December 2010. Mr. Cahen holds both a medical degree from the University of Basel and an Executive MBA and has extensive experience in management, acquired primarily at Novartis and Abbot in Switzerland and the United States. His main task will be to energise Unilabs’ growth strategy in Switzerland.
Geneva and Zurich, 1 December 2010 ‒ Unilabs, the Swiss leader of medical diagnostics, announced today, 1 December 2010, the appointment of Alain Cahen as Managing Director. Dr. Cahen’s main mission will be to promote Unilabs’ growth strategy in Switzerland, strengthen the company’s culture of innovation and develop its range of products and services.
Born 4 May 1967, Alain Cahen has both advanced scientific training and a wealth of experience in marketing, sales, operations and business strategy. He received his medical degree and Ph.D. from the University of Basel. After working as a doctor in the surgery department at the Cantonal Hospital, Chur, he worked for Novartis for nine years, first in the U.S. and then at the company’s headquarters in Basel, in both a sales and strategic capacity. At the same time he received his Executive MBA from the University of Rochester (United States) and a degree in Pharmaceutical Medicine from the Swiss Medical Association (FMH). In 2004, Alain Cahen joined Abbott, where he was responsible for the specialty care and immunology divisions. Most recently, he served as strategic marketing director.
